Road Trippin’ and Wild Turkeys

Little E had the opportunity to experience his very first out-of-state road trip to see his grandparents in Huntington, WV and celebrate his very first Turkey Day all in one long weekend!!

We packed our little family into the car and headed out on the wide-open road. The little guy did fairly well for his first extended time in his car seat. The first half of the trip he was entertained by Calley, who sat on the bench behind him. He is always very amused by his furry sister. He also watched the scenery fly past him as he gazed out the window, while listening to some good grunge music. Before long, he fell asleep.

We made a pit stop when Daddy realized we had next to no gas. Mommy was not impressed with the prospect of being stranded roadside!! Fortunately, we found a little place off the main drag and E had himself a snack. Once we got back on the road, E was feeling ready to get out of his seat and get moving. Unfortunately, we’re law abiding citizens and E remained strapped in to his seat much to his dismay. He hollered. He hollered for an extremely long time. We sang his favorite song, ‘Itsy Bitsy Spider’ about 301 times. Understandably, he was not a happy camper. So we made a couple additionally pit stops and made it to H-Town in time for a late dinner, around 8pm.

When we arrived, we were greeted by Velliamma and Velliappa – and a wonderful surprise! Anianchayan and Mamyco made a surprise visit from Belgium!! The little man was very excited to see Achi and Acha (these names were coined by E's cousin Mia in Singapore). That night we celebrated with a delicious home-cooked meal, courtesy of Velliamma!

The next morning (and the mornings that followed), E would join his Velliamma for snuggle time. It made for good quality time for the two of them. She listened to all of his stories as he was quite vocal for most of the morning.

Eashan showed off his musical skills to his Velliappa. He seemed to really enjoy this.

That afternoon, Divyammai and Alexuapappan arrived from Texas. Yay! The fam was altogether. In the evening, we enjoyed a FABULOUS Thanksgiving chicken roast complete with all the fixings!! (Again, BIG thanks Velliamma for keeping our bellies full). Little E looks forward to tasting some of your cooking soon.)

Velliamma got a more appropriately sized piano for E to practice on. Divyammai gave him some guidance.

The whole family wanted to spend time with Eashan before he hit the sack. He didn't stay up for the big dinner - it was served after bedtime. E finished his Thanksgiving dinner by 7:30.

After dinner we sat around the table playing Texas Hold 'em … As you can imagine, Mommy’s poker face just gives her away!! Dad came through as the big winner...
